1970년대 소개된 일본 내수용 4밴드 포터블 라디오로 야외활동을 염두에 두고 디자인되었다.
최초 머리 속에 떠오른 단어는 Robust 그리고 Army Look. 매우 단단하게 잘 만들어진 군용장비같은 느낌에, 마구 굴리고 던져도 절대 고장나지않고 소리가 잘 나올 것처럼 보인다. 실제로 베이스 프레임은 트러스(Truss) 구조를 취했고 전면부 양 옆 돌출 Bar와 중간부분 가이드를 써서 직접적인 외부충격이 전가되지 않도록 했으며 고무-씰이 적용된 배터리-커버를 사용하는 등 방수대책도 마련했다.
